In 2011, the adventure took the first step and Maison Chance started the exploratory missions in the provinces of Gia Lai, Kon Tum Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Lam Dong, Đắk Nông and Dak Lak. It was in Dak Nong province, specifically in the district of Krong No, that the association decided to settle. This is one of the poorest provinces in the region and there are many disadvantaged ethnic minorities.
The officials laid out the difficulties faced by the local population and provided a list of disabled people in need of a wheelchair and medical monitoring. Maison Chance began the exploratory missions to analyze the needs of the population and confirmed information.
In May 2014, Maison Chance received the license of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs authorizing the work in Đắk Nông Province. After becoming owner of the land, the organization’s demand for creation of a Social Center in the Krong No district was filed in granted on June 19, 2015. The cornerstone of construction work was laid in April 2016, when the building of the perimeter fence started.
The Social Center in Đắk Nông welcomed its first beneficiaries, 120 children, with beginning of the school year in September 2018. Earlier, a ceremony took place to inaugurate the primary school of the center. Though not all construction work was completed by that time, the opening was important to get the kids into school as soon as possible.
In total, the shelter has capacity for 250 beneficiaries living and working there. At the end of 2019, the Center hosts 161 beneficiaries, including disadvantaged children and tetraplegic adults. Among these beneficiaries, 31 suffer from handicap. The official opening ceremony will take place on December 14th, 2019.
