PAINTING CONTEST Print
Saturday, 30 January 2010

To develop the painting talent of our brothers and sisters at Maison Chance and promote their study-working-competition spirit, the Take Wings Centre held December 19, 2009 a drawing contest at its Painting Workshop. The theme was ‘LOVE’ as proposed by Uncle Hiep, Chairperson of Maison Chance International.

Paintings participated at the contest

December 19, 2009 may be an unforgettable day for learners at the Painting Workshop; it is a competition to show the results of their hard working and learning over the past time and a milestone for them to assess their ability in their chosen career path.

They have prepared for the competition for a long time, racking their brain for a content that is both appealing to the judges and impressive to the viewers. It took weeks for some and even longer for many others.

After having decided on the content, our brothers and sisters, through their plain but sincere and brave drawing strokes, have imbedded in the paintings their thoughts, passions and desires of life.

Everything was ready and on Saturday Dec 19, 2009, the Painting Workshop cheerfully welcomed the distinguished judges who are renowned painting artists in HCM City, Teacher The Anh who have been teaching at Take Wings Center, and the representatives from Maison Chance management. Last but not least, our dear Ms Tim Aline Rebeaud cannot miss this event. Confident but still anxious, our brothers and sisters presented their art works to the judges.

The results were announced in mid-afternoon. The First Prize went to ‘Daddy's Love' by Ngo Huu Tien.

‘Daddy's love' won the First Prize

"For me, with a broken spinal column, it is very difficult if not to say impossible to have a child of my own. Therefore, I always dream of a child, a daughter or a son, to be my consolation and aid to me at old age...'

Tien's painting drawing a father in the wheel chair holding his innocent child in his arms and his moved presentation have touched the hearts of the judges and audience, bringing him the highest prize. Tien was so happy and moved to be the top winner in this first drawing contest; it is not only the prize that counts but it is the result of his endeavor after months of pursuing the drawing class. Tien used to be an ordinary learner in the class and he has now surprised everybody, especially Teacher The Anh who himself teaches him everyday.

Besides the prizes, the management of Maison Chance has decided to reward VND300,000 to every other contesters to encourage their active participation at the contest.

On behalf of the brothers and sisters at the Painting Room, we would like to thank Uncle Hiep who has proposed and supported this contest. Our deep thanks also go to the management of Maison Chance - Take Wings Centre, the judges who have facilitated the contest for its successful results.
